Noctua today presented four CPU coolers and a separate mounting kit for Intel's LGA4189 platform. The new NH-U14S DX-4189, NH-U12S DX-4189, NH-U9 DX-4189 and NH-D9 DX-4189 4U are ideal for creating whisper-quiet high-end workstations using Intel's just-announced Ice Lake-64L based W3300 series Xeon processors for LGA4189. In addition to the new DX-4189 coolers, the NM-i4189 mounting kit allows Noctua DX-3647 and TR4-SP3 series coolers to be installed on LGA4189.

"DX line CPU coolers have become a default choice in premium grade quiet cooling solutions for Intel Xeon processors", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Sonnet Technologies today announced the DuoModo line of professional, modular Thunderbolt expansion systems for the desktop and for rack installation, the latest entries in its award-winning lineup of Thunderbolt products. The DuoModo line is comprised of three interchangeable expansion modules—a three-slot PCIe card system, an eGPU card system, and a Mac mini mounting system with integrated 40 Gbps Thunderbolt storage dock—and three enclosures consisting of two dual-module housings (one desktop and one rackmount) and a single-module desktop housing. Sonnet will also offer four preconfigured systems to simplify the order process for the most popular combinations of modules and enclosures. All modules are Thunderbolt 3 and Thunderbolt 4 compatible.

DuoModo Echo III Module: This module (the same one used in Sonnet's Echo III Desktop and Echo III Rackmount systems announced at the end of 2020) features one x16 and two x8 PCIe 3.0 slots; accommodates full-height, full-length (up to 12.28 inches long) PCIe cards; and connects them to a computer's Thunderbolt port via the included 0.7-meter Thunderbolt 3 (40 Gbps) cable. The module integrates a universal 400 W power supply and includes a 75 W auxiliary power connector for non-GPU cards that require extra power. The module includes a mode switch that enables the use of three Avid Pro Tools|HDX PCIe cards, and features Noctua cooling fans for ultra-quiet operation.

Noctua today released its much anticipated NH-P1 CPU cooler as well as the optional NF-A12x25 LS-PWM 120 mm fan. Custom-designed for fanless operation from the ground up, the NH-P1 is capable of cooling modern high-end CPUs with low to moderate heat dissipation completely passively in enclosures with good natural convection. For further enhanced performance or semi-passive setups that only spin up their fans when necessary, the NH-P1 can be outfitted with a low-speed, ultra-quiet 120 mm fan such as the new NF-A12x25 LS-PWM.

"The NH-P1 is our very first passive cooler, and it should be easy to see that we didn't just take a regular heatsink and omit the fan", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "A lot of engineering work went into designing this unit for fanless operation from the ground up and we're truly proud of the end result. In our completely fanless demo system, the NH-P1 cools an Intel Core i9-11900K running Prime95 at more than 3.60 GHz - this is a lot of processing power and a whopping 125 W kept in check with zero fan noise!"

Noctua's ambitious 100% fanless CPU heatsink, the NH-P1, was briefly listed on Newegg for $100. The heatsink offers clearance for standard-height memory and VRM heatsinks of most motherboards; and completely fanless cooling due to the sheer amount of surface area on offer to dissipate heat without the need for an active airflow. The design of the NH-P1 involves a nickel-plated copper base, from which six heat-pipes emerge passing through a gargantuan aluminium fin-stack.

Noctua claims that the cooler can handle mainstream desktop CPUs without the need for fans. These include the Core i9-9900K, Ryzen 7 2700X, etc., which should mean that most non-K 10th Gen and 11th Gen Intel processors; as well as Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 chips up to 8 cores should run perfectly fine with this heatsink. Among the CPU socket types supported are LGA1200, LGA115x, LGA2066, and AM4. For higher TDP chips, particularly HEDT chips in the LGA2066 package, the heatsink supports the mounting of a pair of 120 mm fans.

Noctua first teased their passive CPU cooler at Computex 2019 which weighed 1.5 kg and could handle processors with a TDP of 120 W passively and 180 W with quiet fans. Noctua had been planning to release a commercial version of the cooler in Q1 2021 but that date was pushed to Q2 2021 when Noctua updated its product roadmap in early 2021. Noctua has recently confirmed that this latest launch date is on schedule with an announcement that the cooler is "coming very soon" in response to a user on Twitter. The prototype featured mounting for AM4 and LGA 115x sockets with it keeping the Intel i9-9900K cool under load so we expect it will handle any consumer CPU.

ASUS today formally launched the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Ryujin II series all-in-one liquid CPU coolers. The second generation of Ryujin was first shown off in January 2021. The production version is unchanged. Launching in two variants based on radiator size—the Ryujin II 360 and Ryujin II 240, these coolers are characterized by a 3.5-inch true-color LCD display on the pump-block, and the inclusion of premium Noctua Industrial PPC 2000 PWM fans with the package.

The screen can be made to display anything from cool animation presets, to system monitoring, real-time cooling performance, and your clan's identity. The pump-block also has a concealed lateral fan that ventilates the CPU VRM area around the socket. The pump-block is functionally based on the 7th generation of AIO CLC technology by Asetek. The included Noctua Industrial PPC 2000 fans turn at speeds of 450 - 2000 RPM, pushing up to 71.6 CFM of air-flow at 3.94 mm H₂O static pressure. The company didn't reveal pricing.

Noctua today presented the NH-U12S redux, the first CPU cooler within its redux line of products. True to the spirit of the redux line, the NH-U12S redux takes the proven concept of the original, award-winning NH-U12S and reduces it to its essential core: a quiet, quality-made 120 mm cooler with streamlined accessories that is highly compatible, easy to install and accessibly priced. With the NA-FK1 second fan kit, the NH-U12S redux can be upgraded to a push/pull dual-fan configuration for further improved performance.

"Our redux line fans have earned an excellent reputation for providing trusted Noctua quality without breaking the bank", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "Today, we're proud to present our first redux line CPU cooler, which does exactly the same thing. Noctua is preparing to launch their first Redux CPU cooler in the coming weeks targeting price-conscious consumers who still want a quality cooling solution. Noctua describes their upcoming Redux product as a 'proven CPU cooler, reduced to the essentials' which indicates the design will be similar to an existing product such as the NH-U12. The new cooler will ship with Grey Redux fans for an industrial look, moving away from the signature brown and beige fans. This new cooler will compete with the likes of Cooler Master's Hyper 212 lineup however exact pricing and availability are currently unknown.

Noctua has recently updated their 2021 product roadmap pushing a number of products back one quarter including their passive CPU cooler. The passive CPU cooler, black NF-A12x25 fans, black NH-U12A, and NH-U12A heatsinks have all been delayed from Q1 2021 to Q2 2021 the only product which remains on track for a Q1 2021 release is the redux line CPU cooler. The release of white Noctua fans has also been pushed from Q2 2021 until Q3 2021, products expected to release in Q3 and Q4 2021 remain on track. These new delays are likely due to the return of COVID-19 lockdowns and are only estimates which are subject to change.

Noctua revealed their prototype passive cooler at Computex 2019 it weighed in at 1.5 kg and could dissipate 120 W passively or 180 W with quiet case fans. The prototype included mounting for both AM4 and LGA 115x sockets with the cooler able to keep an Intel i9-9900K cool under load. Noctua has been working towards releasing a commercial passive cooler in Q1 2021. This new cooler has recently been pictured by @FanlessTech and is reportedly about to enter mass production. Noctua is likely to announce more information about this new cooler in the coming months.

Noctua today expanded its chromax.black line with all-black versions of the award-winning NH-D15S and NH-U9S CPU coolers: Staying true to the successful formula of the original models, the new chromax.black versions with their black fans and black coated heatsinks combine the same signature quiet cooling performance with a sleek stealth look.

"Our chromax.black coolers have been very well received and we're thrilled to expand the line-up with further models", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Launch of Noctua's large fanless CPU cooler designed for high TDP scenarios - more realistically, running premium desktops fanless - has been delayed to Q1 2021, according to a FanlessTech report citing a company roadmap. Noctua has been working on this cooler for some time now, with the early prototypes exhibited back in the 2019 Computex. In May 2020, we reported citing OC3D that the cooler was closer to launch, and expected to come out within 2020. Noctua's product roadmap looks pretty spartan for the remainder of 2020, with Black trims of the NH-D15S and NH-U9S expected in Q3, and Redux variants of various CPU coolers expected in Q4. Several CPU cooler launches have been pushed to Q1 2021, possibly bunched up for CES. Unfortunately, CTA put out some bad news on Tuesday.

Louqe and Noctua today presented the new NH-L12 Ghost S1 edition CPU cooler. Coming with a single 92 mm fan and Noctua's second-generation NT-H2 thermal compound, as well as the latest SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system, the NH-L12 Ghost S1 edition has been customised to be an ideal companion for quiet high-end builds in Louqe's award-winning Ghost S1 enclosure.

"We've tested pretty much every low-profile cooler on the market in the Ghost S1 and even tried to create a complete custom solution in collaboration with Noctua, but nothing worked as well as our long-term favourite, the NH-L12," explains Patrik Michalski (Louqe CEO). "That's why we've ended up creating a customised special edition of this cooler that will be the ideal choice for all Ghost S1 users who are looking for the best possible air cooling solution."

Noctua produces some of the most well-regarded CPU coolers in the PC space, and for good reason: they usually set the benchmark in both heat dissipation efficiency and noise levels. However, one of the elements that may not make their coolers as popular as they could be (and they are immensely popular) is the color scheme the company usually favors, with its brown and beige colors being relatively hard to fit in with many system builds. The company responded by adding Chromax versions to their lineup, with a more "typical" black color scheme, which have seen great success both in the market and user opinion.

A Reddit user going by the handle hoopon, however, claims to have received a tech support answer from a Noctua representative that said that a Chromax version of the famed, high-performance Noctua NH-U12A cooler is being readied for market launch in Q3 2020. Another user, Bergh3m, echoed these claims, saying that he himself had received a Noctua answer on the same product in the beginning of the year that placed the Noctua NH-U12A Chromax as being released in Q2 or Q3 2020. However, as with everything these days, the COVID-19 situation may very well has pushed the release to a definite Q3. As always, we urge you to take these rumors with a full pint of salt.

Noctua is reportedly working on a high-performance fanless CPU cooler building on a 2019 prototype that was exhibited at last year's Computex. The final product should launch within 2020, according to an Overclock3D report. As of now there's no word on whether the said cooler will look identical to last year's prototype, but it provides a long list of capabilities that Noctua could build on. For starters, last year's prototype was capable of handling 120 W TDP in PC cases with good natural ventilation, and up to 180 W in cases with quiet fans. The company used a Core i9-9900K in a variety of workloads as a proof of the heatsink's capabilities. The prototype heatsink was also shown offering decent amount of clearance with the motherboard's memory- and VRM areas. Its only downside was the 1.5 kg weight.

Noctua confirmed that Intel's upcoming 10th generation Core "Comet Lake-S" processor's LGA1200 CPU socket has an identical cooler compatibility with LGA115x-series sockets, such as LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA1155, and LGA1156. Most of Noctua's LGA115x-compatible coolers will seamlessly fit on LGA1200 motherboards. A selection of Noctua's older coolers can be made compatible for LGA1200 by requesting Noctua for a free NM-i115x upgrade kit. Some of the really old (think pre-Lynnfield) Noctua coolers can be made to support LGA1200, but are not eligible for the free NM-i115x upgrade kit offer. Yet another list of Noctua coolers, such as those tailor-made for SP3, won't support LGA1200 at all, since they don't support the NM-i115x module. The rule of the thumb hence is "if it supports LGA1151, it will support LGA1200."

The list of Noctua coolers that seamlessly support LGA1200 include NH-C12P SE14, NH-C14, NH-C14S, NH-D15, NH-D15 chromax.black, NH-D15S, NH-D14, NH-L12, NH-L12S, NH-L9i, NH-L9i chromax-black, NH-L9x65, NH-U14S, NH-U12A, NH-U12S, NH-U12S chromax.black, NH-U12P SE2, NH-U9S, NH-D9L, and NH-U9B SE2. The coolers eligible for a free NM-i115x upgrade kit are: NH-C12P, NH-D15 SE-AM4, NH-L9x65 SE-AM4, NH-U12, NH-U12F, NH-U12P, NH-U12P SE1366, NH-U12S SE-AM4, NH-U9, NH-U9F, and NH-U9B. Among the older coolers that support LGA1200 though a NM-i115x module purchased separately, are NH-U12DO (except A3 variant), NH-U12DX, NH-U12DX 1366, NH-U12DX i4, NH-U9DX i4, NH-U9DX 1366, and NH-U9DO.

Noctua today introduced another addition to its chromax line of all-black CPU coolers: the new NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black is a low-profile quiet CPU cooler for AMD's Ryzen-based HTPCs and Small Form Factor (SFF) builds. Thanks to the same proven heatsink design and NF-A9x14 PWM fan as the original NH-L9a-AM4, it stays true to the same successful formula of fusing a height of only 37 mm with strong performance and excellent quietness of operation, as well as 100% RAM and PCIe compatibility. At the same time, the chromax.black version, with its black fan and black coated heatsink, combines these assets with a sleek stealth look.

Noctua today presented new additions to its chromax line of black, colour-customisable cooling fans. The new chromax.black.swap versions of the award-winning NF-A20, NF-A12x15, NF-A9, NF-A9x14 and NF-A8 fans as well as the corresponding NA-SAVP5 and NA-SAVP6 anti-vibration pads now give customers the option to colour-coordinate Noctua 200 mm, slim 120 mm, 92 mm, slim 92 mm and 80 mm fans with individual build designs and popular colour schemes such as all black, black and white or black and red.

"First introduced in 2015, our chromax line is aimed at customers who value individual, focused build aesthetics just as much as class-leading quality and performance," says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Noctua today presented new fan and heatsink accessories as part of its chromax line that allows colour-configuring Noctua products in order to coordinate them with individual build colour schemes. Complementing the existing NA-SAVP1 anti-vibration pads in black, blue, green, red, white and yellow, the new NA-SAVP1 chromax.grey anti-vibration pads are a perfect fit for the light and dark grey colour scheme of Noctua's 140 and 120mm redux line fans. The new NA-HC5 chromax.black.swap, NA-HC6 chromax.black and NA-HC6 chromax.white are add-on heatsink covers for the popular NH-U14S, NH-U14S TR4-SP3 and NH-U14S DX-3647 CPU coolers.

During our visit with Noctua, we spotted what every air cooling enthusiast has been hoping for, a brand new top of the line D-type cooler. Noctua's next generation model is of course based on the award-winning NH-D15 and NH-D15S and comes packing 7 heat pipes alongside a 10% increase in surface area for improved performance. It also takes design cues from the NH-D15S by using an asymmetrical design for improved PCIe clearance while also retaining the same fin cutouts for improved RAM clearance of 65 mm.

The company plans to release two versions, one with a single fan and of course a dual fan thus offering both a high compatibility and a maximum performance model. The bundled fan will be Noctua's proven NF-A15 PWM model which when paired with the new redesign results in a cooler capable of dissipating over 400-watts on the TR4 socket. Speaking of sockets, it will support all current offerings including AMD, LGA20xx, LGA115x with a separate model for socket TR4. It has a current ETA of Q1 2020 and will come bundled with Noctua's NT-H2 thermal compound.

Noctua today presented its new NH-U12A premium-quality quiet CPU cooler. The NH-U12A is the latest, 5th generation of Noctua's award-winning U12 series of 120mm size coolers. Conceived to push the envelope of the 120mm form factor, it combines two of Noctua's flagship model NF-A12x25 PWM 120mm fans with a completely redesigned heatsink featuring 7 heatpipes and an increased fin surface area for superior heat dissipation. This way, the NH-U12A can rival the performance of many 140mm sized coolers while offering 120mm class case and PCIe compatibility.

"The original NH-U12 was the very first product we introduced back in 2005 and the U12 series has been at the core of our product line-up ever since," explains Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). Noctua today announced that all of its current multi-socket desktop CPU coolers, such as the popular NH-D15, NH-U14S and NH-U12S, now also include installation hardware for the AM4 socket of AMD's Ryzen processors. Although Noctua introduced its dedicated SE-AM4 models in early 2017 and has provided free-of-charge upgrade kits ever since the launch of the AM4 platform, the updates of the existing multi-socket models now allow customers to install them on all current mainstream sockets without ordering extra mounting kits. As suggested retail prices remain unchanged, the updates come at no extra cost to the customers.

"We've supported AMD's Ryzen platform with our SE-AM4 models and free-of-charge mounting upgrades from the very beginning", says Roland Mossig (Noctua CEO). "As with Intel's LGA115x and 20xx platforms, our customers have greatly appreciated our free upgrade policy. We've provided many thousands of free mounting kits and quite a few customers have migrated 10-year-old heatsinks they had already used on several socket generations. This means a lot to us and we'll continue to offer the free kits of course. However, with AM4 becoming more and more popular, we think it is time to also include the mountings with our existing models so that customers have everything at hand when they purchase new coolers."

ASUS today launched the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Ryujin line of all-in-one liquid CPU coolers for AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors. Positioned above the ROG Ryuo series, which opened to pre-orders earlier this month, the Ryujin was first showcased at the 2018 Computex. These coolers are characterized by a somewhat square pump-block design that resembles a that of a chipset heatsink; but is embedded with a 1.77-inch color OLED display that shows an animated ROG logo by default, but can be reprogrammed to show just about anything, such as clan logos, live CPU temperature/load monitoring, etc. Another innovation that sets the Ryujin pump-block apart from every other Asetek cooler out there, is a tiny lateral-blower fan embedded into the block, which ASUS claims can bring down CPU VRM and M.2 SSD temperatures by up to 20°C.

The Ryujin series comes in two variants based on radiator size, the Ryujin 240 (120 mm x 240 mm radiator), and Ryujin 360 (120 mm x 360 mm radiator). These are 27 mm-thick aluminium radiators, which are ventilated by matte-black Noctua IndustrialPPC 120 mm PWM fans that are part of the package. These fans each spin between 450 to 2,000 RPM, pushing up to 121.8 CFM of air, with noise output up to 31 dBA. As we mentioned earlier, the product pages for both models mentions that the coolers only support AMD socket TR4, with full coverage for the AMD Ryzen Threadripper integrated heatspreader. This could help ASUS command a slightly high price, given that it's catering only to the market that can afford HEDT processors.
