ASUS Announces the World's First Two-Way HDMI Streaming Kit

ASUS has launched WAVI, the world's first wireless HDMI kit to feature innovative two-way wireless USB control designed to stream PC content to the big screen TV. WAVI (Wireless Audio Video Interaction) is offered as a pair of devices that bridges the gap between the home office and living room. Watch movies, play the latest PC games, enjoy social networking or even do online shopping, all on the big screen TV from the comfort of a couch.

The WAVI HDMI streaming kit consists of a transmitter and receiver for two-way input and streaming. Unlike other wireless HDMI kits, the WAVI allows users to control the PC content in the living room with a wireless keyboard and mouse, thanks to wireless USB support. The WAVI operates at the wireless 5GHz band and provides up to 25 meters of coverage. Additionally, under the Extend Mode, users can continue working on the PC screen while streaming multimedia content to the living room TV - maximizing the use of a single home PC while also providing home entertainment experiences.

Gigabyte Intros ECO600 Wireless Laser Mouse

Gigabyte unveiled its latest peripheral, the ECO600 wireless laser mouse. The ECO600 runs on two AA batteries, and can run for up to 12 months before needing a battery change. It connects to the USB nano receiver, over a 2.4 GHz wireless connection. It uses laser for tracking, with a adjustable resolutions of 800, 1200, and 1600 dpi, using a resolution switch. Optimized for right-handers, the mouse has two programmable (4th/5th) buttons at the thumb groove. The sides are rubberized to enhance grip. The mouse measures (L)124.5x(W)77.6x(H)41.8 mm, weighing 106 g without batteries. The feather-light receiver can slot into the mouse when not connected to a PC, to prevent misplacing it. Gigabyte didn't give out pricing details.

Samsung Unveils SyncMaster Monitor with Ultra Wide Band Wireless Technology

Samsung flexed its market arm today by releasing one of the first monitors to feature Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology. UWB is a method of wirelessly connecting the monitor to the PC/Laptop. The power cord stays, but hey, the lesser the cables the better, right? Samsung is bundling a UWB dongle that plugs into the PC/notebook's display connector, and relays video wirelessly to the display.

The SyncMaster C27A750 from Samsung is a 27-inch full-HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) monitor with 300 cd/m² maximum brightness. UWB aside, users can physically connect the monitor to a PC/notebook using D-Sub or HDMI. The piano-black "easy hub" (base with connectivity) also packs USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 hubs. Slated for April, the Samsung SyncMaster C27A750 is expected to be priced at €599.

AMD Appoints New CEO, Dirk Meyer Resigns

AMD today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Senior Vice President and CFO Thomas Seifert, 47, as interim CEO following the resignation of Dirk Meyer, 49, as president, CEO and a director of the company effective immediately.

A CEO Search Committee has been formed to begin the search for a new CEO. The Committee is led by Bruce Claflin, Chairman of AMD's Board of Directors, who has been named Executive Chairman of the Board as he assumes additional oversight responsibilities during the transition period. Seifert will maintain his current responsibilities as CFO and has asked not to be considered for the permanent CEO position.

ASUS Intros ''All Round'' Wireless Mouse with Touch Surface

No, it's not a mini-disc music player, it's not a powder compact either, but a new wireless mouse by ASUS, which intends to take on Apple's Magic Mouse, which gives users a touch surface apart from being a pointing device. ASUS' WD-XL, as it's called, sports a perfectly round shape, with a slight tilt when placed on its tracking surface.
