Acer to be an 8.97% Shareholder of Apacer, Hints at Cooperation

Acer is bidding to buy 11 million equity shares of Apacer, a major DRAM and NAND flash products manufacturer. The shares, valued at NTD 363 million, will make the Taiwanese prebuilt PC and notebooks giant an 8.97% shareholder of Apacer's stock. The announcement put out by Apacer also speaks of an enhancement of "strategic collaborations" between the two companies. This could only mean one thing—that Apacer becomes a supplier of DRAM and NAND flash products to Acer.

Acer sells a small but significant lineup of SSDs and PC memory products in the DIY retail channel. These products are sourced from BIWIN, an OEM of DRAM and NAND flash products. Will Apacer replace BIWIN as a supplier? We'll have to wait and see. Besides an OEM, Apacer sells its own-branded memory cards, USB flash drives, SSDs, and PC memory modules; besides holding the PC enthusiast brand ZADAK, which sells high-end SSDs and overclocking memory modules.

Apacer, Zadak Announce World's First PCIe Gen 5 M.2 SSD

The first shot in the oncoming war of the PCIe Gen5 SSD war has been claimed by a duo of companies that likely wouldn't make anyone's first guess: Zadak and Apacer. Both companies entered a partnership towards developing and launching a PCIe Gen 5 SSD - despite platform support for us PC enthusiasts being available ever since Intel's launch of its Tiger Lake-based Gen 12 Core design and accompanying Z690 motherboards. Both Apacer and ZADAK have developed their own SKUs surrounding the SSD: AS2280F5 for Apacer, and the TWSG5 for ZADAK.

According to the companies, their respective SSDs can deliver up to 13,000 MB/s sequential read speeds and a scorching 12,000 MB/s sequential writes. Both SSDs are delivered in an M.2 Gen 5 form-factor, with support for the NVMe 2.0 protocol, and yet retain full backwards compatibility with PCIe Gen 4 designs. Both also feature an integrated heatsink design that betrays the SSD's joint development, as only the stickers change between both models - but ZADAK offers an "ultra thin graphene" heatsink option in addition to the heatsink-cooled model. No word on pricing or availability was available at time of writing.

ZADAK Announces TWSG4S PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD

here's another hot new ZADAK product on the market, and this one is going to take gamers one step beyond. It's the TWSG4S M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 SSD, and it delivers read-write speeds that many Gen4 x4 SSDs can't - 7,400 and 7,000 MB/s, respectively. This is an ideal expansion SSD for new game consoles and PCs, giving players the chance to dominate their games. It ships with two powerful heatsinks in the box. One is made of ultra-thin graphene and the other of aluminium, and they reduce the operating temperatures by 15% and 35% respectively.

Either will fit inside the PS5, but notebooks will only permit the installation of the graphene heatsink. PC gamers will quickly see the advantages of this SSD, but it's also fully compliant with the technical requirements and physical dimensions of Sony's PS5, so console gamers will love it too. One of the most unique features of this product is the design. Sure, there's an aesthetic similarity that makes it the perfect partner for the PS5 in looks. But it also features a heat dissipation portal that's been crafted to suggest the dimensions of the PS5's DualSense controller. It's subtle, like the tiny PlayStation symbols that adorn the DualSense itself, but gamers will appreciate the difference.

AMD Ryzen 7000 "Raphael" to Ship with DDR5-5200 Native Support

AMD's upcoming Socket AM5 Ryzen 7000-series "Raphael" desktop processors will ship with native support for DDR5-5200 memory speed, according to a marketing slide by memory maker Apacer (which also owns the overclocking memory brand ZADAK). The "Zen 4" based desktop processors will feature a dual-channel DDR5 (4 sub-channel) interface, just like the 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake," but with no backwards compatibility with DDR4.

AMD already stated that Ryzen 7000 processors have a design focus on memory overclocking capabilities, including AMD EXPO, a custom memory module SPD extension standard rivaling Intel XMP 3.0, which will come with fine-grained settings specific to the AMD memory controller architecture. Until now, AMD relied on A-XMP, a motherboard vendor-enabled feature based in the UEFI firmware setup program, which translates Intel XMP SPD profiles of memory modules into AMD-approximate settings.

ZADAK Announces the Spark RGB DDR5 Memory

ZADAK, a leading provider of PC gaming components and innovative water cooling solutions, today announced the launch of SPARK RGB DDR5 desktop gaming memory modules. SPARK RGB DDR5 is ZADAK's first module in the DDR5 format. The performance, capacity, stability and power saving efficiency have all been significantly improved. It delivers speeds from 5200 MHz to 6400 MHz, and it is available in capacities of 16 GB and 32 GB. It's sure to be a hit among early adopters and high-end gamers.

The SPARK RGB DDR5 gaming memory module features a matte white exterior with a frosted texture. The top of the module features a slender aluminium alloy dissipation array that releases heat from the heat sink. And the staggered design of the materials presents a hollow light-guide effect with gem-like decorations. The eye is inevitably drawn to the gem shape set in the center of the heat sink, which shows off the dynamic multi-zone RGB lighting. This stunning aesthetic will give it a place of honor in any high-end gaming rig.

ZADAK Announces SPARK DDR5 RGB Memory Kits

ZADAK, announces the next step forward in gaming DRAM. The newest member of its high-end SPARK lineup is a DDR5 RGB illuminated gaming DRAM module which is available in 16 GB and 32 GB capacities. Gamers who demand the fastest clock speeds will be able to choose from modules ranging from 4800 MHz all the way up to 7200 MHz.

DDR5 also features another important upgrade: power management is no longer handled by the motherboard, but by a PMIC (power management integrated circuit) on the module itself. While DDR4 modules consume 1.2V, DDR5 modules only require 1.1V. It sounds like a small difference, but over hours and days of gaming, it adds up to significant power savings. The PMIC also gives overclockers more options when it comes to tweaking settings.
