7Hz Eternal In-Ear Monitors Review - Shiny Darkness!

Introduction

7Hz Logo

7Hz was a relatively unknown brand out of Asia that until recently had not done much of value, putting out a few in-ear monitors (IEMs), such as the 7Hz i88 or i99 which barely sold outside of China, and even those were not products anyone was recommending to others. Then it seemingly struck gold with the recently covered 7Hz Timeless—a set that used relatively large planar magnetic drivers tuned better than just about any other such implementation and with enough technical performance to make it an excellent offering at the $200–220 price point. Indeed, the 7Hz Timeless is still one of the top recommendations in the IEM world today, but the company hasn't been idle. In an excellent example of how quick the IEM market moves, we now have a new offering from 7Hz that commemorates its 10th anniversary and also aims to keep its hype train rolling. Thanks to Linsoul for providing TechPowerUp a review sample as we aim to find out whether this train has any brakes in its path!

At the time of my 7Hz Timeless review, the brand had no e-commerce or online presence outside of Linsoul and a couple of other vendors. Things have changed drastically with the success of the Timeless, and most of the usual suspects in the Chinese IEM world are eagerly stocking the newer 7Hz Eternal—might I say that 7Hz has some fantastic product names now? We see right away that the unique design language of the 7Hz Timeless is mostly preserved, with some updates on the face plate and shells for not only a different color but also an equally unique sapphire-coated glass cover over a faux dynamic driver face plate. The theme is a good fit considering the 7Hz Eternal has a large single dynamic driver over the planar drivers in the Timeless. Let's see how this change works out in practice in our detailed review which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
