Cooling

ABIT's SilentOTES moves all heat from the chipset another heatsink near the IO Shield area by using a heatpipe.

The ULI southbridge is not generating too much heat. That's why a passive solution works fine, even when heavily overclocked. Noise aware PC users will sure love that.

Chips

This is the heart of ABIT's UGuru. A programmable microcontroller made by Winbond which is running the UGuru software independently.

The Winbond W83627 chip is one of the most popular monitoring chips.

ATI's chipset does not have native support for Ethernet, so one PCI-Express lane is used to implement Gigabit Ethernet via this Realtek 8110SB network chip.

The IDT CV137 clock generator is managed by the UGuru controller chip.

The Realtec ALC882D sound chip is an updated version of the ALC880 and supports Intel's High-Definition Audio standard. Audio quality of the AT8 is among the best on-board solutions we ever tested. The ALC882D supports Dolby Digital Live while the ALC882 does not.

On the board you will find two IEEE1394 ports which are connected to this Texas Instruments IEEE1394 controller. One port is on the back panel, the other one as header on the board, where you connect the external bracket to.

Capacitors

ABIT uses capacitors from TMZ and KZG on this board.
