Introduction
Acer is a world-leading manufacturer of computer hardware. The company was founded in 1976, in Taiwan and are mostly known for their laptops, desktop PCs, and monitors. They have now branched out into the field of solid-state storage with OEM partner BIWIN Storage, who is also helping HP produce their SSDs.
Today we're looking at the Acer Predator GM7000 in the 4 TB variant. I
reviewed the 2 TB version in September 2021, the 4 TB capacity is finally available now. Under the hood not much has changed, Acer is using the same Innogrit IG5236 controller on the GM7000 4 TB, which is one of the fastest controllers we've ever tested. The NAND flash is Micron B47R 176-layer TLC, just with four 8 terabit chips. As expected from a high-end drive, a DRAM cache is included.
The Acer Predator GM7000 is available in capacities of 512 GB ($65), 1 TB ($100), 2 TB ($200) and 4 TB ($450). Endurance for these models is set to 300 TBW, 600 TBW, 1300 TBW and 3000 TBW, respectively. Acer includes a five-year warranty with the GM7000 SSD.
