The iMouse X3 is said to be a right-handed ergonomic mouse, which is accurate if we interpret this claim to mean that it's not an ambidextrous mouse. It is wholly inaccurate, however, if we take it to mean that it's ergonomic to the human hand. There are two ways to grip the the iMouse X3. The first approach is to simply put the hand on it such as the shape suggests; i.e., by applying a regular palm grip with two fingers at the top and two on the right side. The problem with this approach, however, is the fact that the sensor will be at a significant angle. In fact, when gripping the mouse this way, a simply horizontal swipe to the right will result in the cursor going right and up at a 45° angle. Hence, in order to get a normal cursor response, holding the mouse at an angle is not just recommended, but required. Holding the mouse like that isn't just weird and forced, it actually becomes painful really quickly. In this grip, the palm has no contact with the back of the mouse, and the thumb sits in front of the thumb rest (completely defeating the purpose of a thumb rest). Again, this weird grip has to be used if one wants the cursor to go right when swiping right.
Compared to this, the other major design issue is rather tame. Right on the thumb rest is another side button which switches to the desktop. Within less than a minute of gaming, I unintentionally hit that button, minimizing the game I was playing in the process. In order to make this mouse usable at all for gaming, it is therefore necessary to immediately disable this button in the software altogether. Yet again, another major issue that should have been plainly obvious to anyone trying this mouse for five minutes before mass producing it.
For the reasons described above, I feel it's pointless to give any grip or hand-size recommendations. The way the iMouse X3 needs to be gripped in order to be usable at a basic level leaves no room for any grip other than the one described.
Dimensions
This table includes the dimensions of the Adesso iMouse X3 and several other right-handed ergonomic mice. I really struggled to find even just remotely comparable mice in my collection, so this section is a bit lighter than usual. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler. For a full list of all measurements taken, please refer to this sheet compiled by an esteemed community member.
