My impressions of the Alphacool Eiszyklon Aurora RGB LT fans were a bit of a rollercoaster. Packaging is okay, but definitely has room for improvement given previous experiences with near-identical packaging not proving sufficient when dealing with a typical delivery service. There is a barebones unboxing experience here, which is fine in my books as long as the savings are passed on to the consumer, and the fan itself looks pretty good. Noting also that this is an RGB-lit fan with 16 RGB LEDs distributed throughout the fan, a translucent rotor with eleven blades and a translucent ring around the frame are used. Coupled to a supported LED controller, be it first-party or otherwise, the Eiszyklon Aurora RGB LT fans can definitely look good, matching color schemes well.
The use of the ring on the frame is made possible by a rounded square frame on the fan, as seen in the images in this review. This means Alphacool is sacrificing some potential static pressure when up against airflow restriction, such as the radiator I use in my testing. Indeed, this was one of several factors that no doubt come together to make for a less-than-impressive radiator fan in terms of performance. Just about every fan tested to date performs better at the same RPM, although I arguably do not really test airflow-optimized case fans here. On the plus side, since there is a silver lining in every cloud, this also means the fan is on the quieter side of things. In the end, it is the price point that has me think positively of this fan. Alphacool has responded to the ever-growing RGB needs of the general market with a fan that does not break the bank by any means, especially when you consider it performs essentially on par with CORSAIR's LL120 RGB that costs twice as much, albeit with more lighting.
