Arozzi Vernazza Soft Fabric Gaming Chair Review

Backrest

We start with the detailed dimensions of the chair.

The backrest is 49 cm (19.29") wide at the shoulder level and 86 cm (33.9") long. Both Vernazza chair models (PU and fabric upholstery) have a weight-limit of 145 kg (320 lb), yet the backrest's dimensions are nearly those typical of most regular-sized chairs. Moreover, the contoured edges of the sports bucket seat inspiration surround the entire backrest and seem to lean towards the inside of the backrest.

A black cotton tag at the left of the backrest has the company name in white stitching and the company logo in red stitching.

Cushioning and Upholstery

The chair's metal frame is covered by plenty of 65 kg/m³ density cushioning, but the backrest seems to have the same profile as other gaming chairs even so. Our Vernazza sample is covered in ash gray fabric with impeccable black stitching, which nicely matches the entire aesthetic of the chair. Some stitching patterns also adorn the backrest. Since this is a chair with an upholstery in a single color, it fits into just about any environment, whether gaming or work-related. Two plastic bits which could have been replaced with two black bolts for a modern appearance cover the screws that secure the backrest to the metal brackets of the seat's base. Two openings on the backrest for the metal brackets to go through (slide) and hide in would have even made assembly easier.

Recline and rocking

In terms of ergonomics, most of the typical adjustment options are present. The angle is adjusted via a lever with a grip on the right side of the seat's base and ranges from 90 to 165 degrees—enough to lean back and take a break.

The rocking mechanism allows the chair to be tilted by up to 12 degrees. To adjust its resistance, use a protruding knob under the seat's base. Depending on the user's weight, turning the knob clockwise has the rocking mechanism stiffen or loosen up.

A lever on the left side and under the seat's base is for locking or unlocking the recline, at 4 degrees and five positions between 3–20 degrees. If the backrest is left to rock freely, it can move back and forth by up to 12 degrees.

Seat Base and Height Adjustments

Just as the original Vernazza chair with the PU upholstery, the seat's base is 44 cm (17.3") wide and 52 cm (20.5") deep. It only has slightly raised flaps, which means the entire base can be used without restricting the user. I am fond of softly cushioned chairs, and the Vernazza has a lot of fluffy cushioning. Comfortable to sit in, the seat's foam density is 70 kg/m³. However, whether the foam will keep its shape only time and use will show, especially as the Vernazza has a rather high weight limit. It is reinforced with a metal frame and two elastic bands underneath to better support large users.

The chair's height ranges from 48–57 cm (18.89–22.44 "), which is enough for even large users. An illustrated lever under the seat's base right side adjusts the height of the chair.
