Set-up
Essential to this small AP is the software it runs, which is terrific. But let's take things from the start. Set-up is a breeze on an iOS or Android device. I used my iPhone to set up the AP22, and everything went as expected. Do keep in mind that for phone set-up to work, the AP22 needs to be connected to a switch through its Ethernet port for internet access, which is a downside. Anyway, shortly thereafter, the AP is ready to roll. This was among the easiest wireless router setups I have come across. The application is also handy, with an excellent interface. Since I am also a programmer, I love seeing functional user interfaces instead of incredibly complex ones. You might have the best software, but it is useless if people cannot use it easily. The plain interface of the Instant On software is a blessing for me.
Aruba Instant On Sites and Devices
Using the cloud portal or mobile application, you can set up to 99 sites with up to 25 devices each, including all Aruba products, from APs to network switches, and you don't have to buy any licenses.
You can also invite users to a site of yours to co-manage it.
A very interesting option if you want to use the AP22 to provide internet access to a business environment, or a café, is that you can set up your guest captive portal. You can set your disclaimer and configure the captive portal to your preferences.
