The Board - Layout

ASRock has updated the look for their Fatal1ty series, eliminating a lot of color and adding in a simplified aesthetic. There is also a minimum of lighting here on the ASRock's Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7. The rear of the ASRock's Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 board does have components in quite a few places.

The ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7's socket gets special treatment with added pins to aid in clocking some CPUs. These DIMM slots are capable of up to 3300 MHz (or more on OC) and support up to 128 GB in total (16 GB per DIMM).

There are three PCIe 3.0 x16 slots and two PCIe 2.0 x1 slots on the ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7. The PCIe 3.0 x16 slots have varied connectivity based on which CPU you install. The rear panel has eight USB ports, dual LAN, a PS/2 port, Clear CMOS button, audio connectors, and the Wi-Fi antennae. Two of the USB ports are USB 3.1, with Type-A and Type-C connectors both present.

There are two Ultra M.2 ports here, featuring 32 Gb/s connectivity. The lower port will support extended 110 mm M.2 devices.

The ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7 has 10 SATA 6 Gb/s ports, two of which can be used to form a SATA Express port.

The ASRock Fatal1ty X99 Professional Gaming i7's lower edge has the standard USB and audio pin headers along with the board's two BIOS chips.
