The ASRock Phantom Gaming PG34WQ15R3A is a 34-inch ultrawide gaming monitor with an interesting twist: it includes a high-gain 7 dBi antenna integrated into its stand. Some will consider it a nice extra feature, but the tests showed that the antenna is, in fact, one of the strongest selling points of ASRock's monitor. It provides a measurable improvement in Wi-Fi performance, even compared to a very capable wireless antenna supplied with a high-end motherboard. Because of that, if you're struggling with wireless performance, the PG34WQ15R3A is worth considering over its competition, especially if you're able to get your hands on a colorimeter and calibrate it.
My sample of the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG34WQ15R3A came with serious gamma-tracking issues, making its colors look washed out. Such issues could be tackled by switching to a different gamma setting in the OSD, but the PG34WQ15R3A doesn't offer any such thing. The OSD as a whole is very limited in options, unusually so for a modern gaming monitor. I looked around to find out what other reviewers were experiencing and didn't find any reports of gamma-related issues. With that in mind, it's possible I was simply unlucky with my sample of the monitor.
The 34-inch ultrawide VA panel offers plenty of screen real estate for immersive gaming and comfortable work. The subtle 1500R curvature further improves the overall user experience, as do excellent ergonomics; you can adjust the screen's position in any way you would like.
In terms of its gaming prowess, the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG34WQ15R3A offers exceptionally low input lag but is somewhat bogged down by the mediocre pixel response time of its VA panel. Monitor manufacturers usually tackle that technical limitation with multiple Overdrive modes, which offer varying levels of voltage to make the pixel transitions faster, but this is another aspect where the PG34WQ15R3A is a victim of its limited OSD. You can only turn the Overdrive on or off, and there's very little difference in perceived pixel response time between these two options. The monitor is still usable for gaming, but if you're very sensitive to ghosting and/or mostly play darker games, you'll definitely want to look elsewhere.
All that means that the ASRock Phantom Gaming PG34WQ15R3A is somewhat of a niche product. It definitely has its strengths, but unless you're looking for a monitor that's also going to help you improve the Wi-Fi performance of your computer, there are better options on the ultrawide gaming monitor market.
