Audio Testing
I spend a fair amount of time every day in online chat while playing games or whatever, which gives me plenty of opportunities to test these motherboard audio designs in actual usage rather than just by running a test.
One of the things that makes this easy is the ability to have separate audio streams on both the front and rear audio jacks, so you can have your chat on your headset and your game audio on your speakers. This has been a very basic feature to me that nearly every motherboard has, but this one, the ASRock X299 OC Formula, does not. I am not sure if the capability somehow affects overclocking in any way, but I think that its exclusion is some sort of oversight. To be completely honest, this board's audio is superb, but something a bit more functionally capable right out of the box would have been nice for sure. RMAA results are below:
