CPU Performance Results

We spent a week with the ASRock X79 Extreme11 before beginning our performance testing, running various configurations and CPUs, and checking hardware compatibility. We verified our power consumption numbers using various different power supplies, and played a few hours of games with some members of the TPU community to get an overall feel for the board and to verify stability. Once completed, we tore down the system, mounted our Noctua cooler and put the board through the paces.

SuperPi

SuperPI serves as our memory-focused benchmark, being highly single-threaded. The ASRock X79 Extreme11 ended up right near the top, beating all other X79 results, and even some Z77 results!

wPrime

wPrime is much more CPU-focused, but memory plays its role as well. In this test, the numbers were much the same with the ASRock X79 Extreme11 taking that top spot, making the ASRock X79 Extreme11 the fastest board I've tested in a couple of years.

WinRAR

Part of our motherboard benchmarking suite is the built-in benchmark that is part of the WinRAR software suite. In this test, the ASRock X79 Extreme11 was again quite high on the graph, firmly beating every other result.

AIDA64

We employed AIDA64's memory bench to highlight memory bandwidth. We isolate the write performance metric since it is a good indicator of overall memory performance. Again, the ASRock X79 Extreme11 scored high, only eclipsed by P67 and Z68 products. That new BIOS really changed things for the better!

HandBrake Encoding

Handbrake is used for encoding testing, and provided results much similar to the previous benchmarks, with the ASRock X79 Extreme11 taking the top spot over all.

CineBench Encoding

In Cinebench, the ASRock X79 Extreme11 was a bit slower in the GPU portion than I had expected, considering the other results. The CPU results, on the other hand, have teh ASRock X79 Extreme11 on top again.

Out of the seven tests here, ASrock has quite firmly placed itself as a performance leader by outright winning more than half the tests, and placing respectably on all others. Its winning streak will hopefully continue with the 3D portion of tests!
