ASRock X870E Taichi Review

BIOS Overview

ASRock's BIOS is dated, there isn't really another word for it and both it and its software hasn't changed much in a number of generations. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you have new and useful features being introduced elsewhere such as ASUS Q-Dashboard and full HD EFI you do feel it needs jazzing up and modernizing a bit.

We do like the ability to control basic RGB lighting from the EFI as this removes the need for additional software (even better seeing as Windows 11 flags ASRock's software and driver as a security risk) and the overclocking and tweaking sections are clear and easy to navigate. The fan control section is extremely dated though, it doesn't even have the ability to tap into the thermal sensor input's ASRock so kindly included - you have to head to the H/W monitor section and locate the relevant fan header in a long list and switch the input manually - very tedious.
