BIOS Walkthrough

The AMI bios chosen by ASUS greets us with a normal main page, leading to menus for data drive control and system information. Date and time is also right here, maybe hinting that the first and primary focus of the board is not overclocking, normally reserved for the ROG line of products.

The second page, however, features full bus frequency and voltage control to all critical components, and a curious option for software interfaces that can take control of the board. More "hybrid" features.

The DRAM timing page, a sub menu located on the second page, is fully equipped, with enough clear and easy settings that even the most demanding memory tweaker has enough to get maximum performance out of whatever memory modules are installed.

The third and fourth page provide access to control the hardware end of the board, from turning off the on-board devices, to fan control and real-time statistic readouts. We also find control for the T.Probe hardware here, although after testing, it's not clear why anyone would really want to run with it off!

The "BOOT" and "TOOLS" page provide access to customizing boot options and boot device order, as well as access to yet another bundled feature, "Express gate", a mini-OS for quick Internet access. You can also save a few BIOS configuration files here, as well as update the board's BIOS to the latest version and test LAN cable functionality, making the list of things this board can do almost exhausting.

The final page allows you to save and exit, leave with ignoring changes, or to reset to "factory" defaults. With that done, we're on our way to seeing what the board can really do! Below is a table with the range of the important overclocking options provided:
