ASUS ROG Chakram Core Review

Shape

The Chakram Core has a fairly typical right-handed ergonomic shape, but differs in some key respects from others. The left side is raised, and the sides curve inward, which, along with the centered and only moderately pronounced hump, creates the usual ergonomic silhouette. The Chakram Core is much longer than most ergonomic mice, but not any wider. The hump is centered and gradually slopes towards the front and back, allowing one to grip the mouse a bit further back. Additionally, the curves are somewhat restrained, which provides some leeway in terms of how to grip the mouse. Aside from the somewhat deep comfort grooves in the buttons, it's not a fancy design, yet oddly comfortable right from the get-go. In some ways, it feels similar to the Razer Basilisk in hand, just sized up a bit and much longer.

Compared to the regular Chakram, the Chakram Core has received a rather subtle aesthetic change. Instead of metallic gray, the base is now kept all-black. Personally, I prefer the colorway of the original Chakram.

As for grip styles, I'd say the Chakram Core mostly suits palm and claw grip. It's a really long mouse, so using only fingers will prove difficult for anybody without gorilla hands. For reference, my hands are 19 cm long and 10 cm wide, and I found the Chakram Core very comfortable in claw grip.

Dimensions

This table includes the dimensions of the ASUS Chakram Core and several other right-handed ergonomic mice. "Front height" denotes the distance between the base and main buttons. Measurements with two decimals have been taken with a caliper, while those with one decimal have been taken with a ruler.
