Overclocking

Overclocking your AMD Ryzen CPU can seem overwhelming with so many choices. You can opt for a manual overclock, use PBO, or try the Curve Optimizer or AMD Curve Shaper to overclock/undervolt your CPU. The X870 platform brings even more options, with ASUS introducing Dynamic OC Switcher, which automatically alternates between manual overclocking and PBO to enhance both single and multithreaded performance. Core Flex, on the other hand, prioritizes temperature control while still allowing adjustments to voltage, current, and temperature to suit your preferences.

ASUS has seemingly dropped AI Suite from its software line-up too and apart from its improved AI overclocking feature located within Armory Crate, there doesn't appear to be a way to overclock within Windows, as most options including CPU voltage and frequency are monitor-only. We can recommend Ryzen Master for that, if you just want to play around or find stable settings, before setting them more long term in the BIOS.

We are in the process of building a new motherboard test system and will have more detailed power measurements in due course. For now, the power from the wall using Cinebench R24's multicore test was 345 W.
