Final Thoughts and Conclusion

  • The ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) is available for US$219.99.
  • Well-supported aesthetic
  • Good "out of box" performance
  • Good overclocking
  • Powerful VRM
  • Software bloat
  • Black and yellow is not for everyone
By this point, the TUF Gaming Alliance is well established, offering a broad range of components with high standards for compatibility and a conveniently matching color scheme. The distinctive black and yellow color scheme may not suit everyone's taste, but the convenience of building within a controlled aesthetic for all components is a tangible benefit. The ASUS TUF Gaming motherboards in particular have a reputation for being an excellent balance of price and features, and the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) continues that legacy with a powerful VRM, good connectivity, and a competitive price tag.

As for performance, memory overclocking was pretty good, but not quite top-tier. The ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) did well to reach 4000 MHz with the stock XMP timings on my Trident Z Neo kit, and was able to boot with the tighter C14 B-die setting at 3600 MHz, but was not able to pass stability testing with the tightened timings. However, ASUS gets points for the safeguards and aids they have put in place, which make the overclocking process simpler and less stressful. The retry logic for overclocking works very well and does a great job of recovering to the BIOS after a failed overclocking attempt. Although not quite the best overclock I have seen on this Ryzen 9 3900X, CPU overclocking went well, reaching 4.45 GHz at 1.35 V. As for thermals, in my testing, no amount of abuse could bring the Vcore VRM anywhere near its thermal limits even with no airflow.

However, the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) isn't perfect. ASUS still has a fair amount of software bloat built into their utilities, and I would have liked to see a few more USB ports on the rear I/O. That having been said, the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Pro (WiFi) retains the excellent value the TUF Gaming boards have garnered a reputation for, making it an excellent buy for adopters of a high-end Ryzen CPU on a budget.
