Packaging and Accessories
Aukey has used the same minimalist packaging here as we saw with their previous keyboard, though it does not have the plastic-sealed wrap, and we get the printed cardboard directly. On the front is the company name, an illustration of the keyboard, and a generic "Mechanical Keyboard" phrase, which allows them to use this same packaging style for other keyboards as well. It is on the back where we see the actual model name printed, along with their contact information and certification labels. Aukey wants us to know this is eco-friendly packaging, presumably from recycled cardboard, which is nice to see. There is a single flap in the middle to help keep the contents inside in place.
Opening the box, we see the keyboard in a foam wrap and held in place between two shaped pieces of thicker foam. Good packaging overall here, and I received the keyboard in perfect condition. Underneath lies a multi-language user manual (
online copy here) and a warranty card reminding you to register the product. The user manual is handy if you want to be sure of what the keyboard-specific secondary functions do, especially with the backlighting controls—it is worth reading.
There is one more accessory Aukey provides, and it is placed in the same unusual spot as with the KM-G8 we saw before. Indeed, we have here a plastic ring-style keycap puller tied in place with the keyboard cable itself. I would have preferred a wire keycap puller to minimize the potential of scratching the sides of keycaps, but this is still a pleasant surprise given Aukey's whole schtick as a budget-oriented brand.
