Introduction

AVerMedia Logo

AVerMedia recently expanded its Go series (officially spelled as "go," but I'll refer to it as "Go" to avoid confusion) with the $70 Versati Go USB microphone and the $100 Flexi Go multi-angle microphone arm. This line of products has been developed with a strong focus on "mobile usage, versatility, and simplicity," which implies just about anyone should be able to get both the Versati Go microphone and the Flexi Go arm going in a matter of seconds. Considering that standalone microphones can be fiddly to set up properly, I completely understand why AVerMedia decided to market these products in such a way. This review will primarily focus on the Versati Go USB microphone, but there's also a dedicated page for the Flexi Go arm, where you can learn about its interesting dual-profile concept and other features.

The Versati Go is a USB-C condenser microphone with a cardioid polar pattern. It weighs a mere 291.9 g (10.3 oz), comes with a foldable tripod, and needs a single USB connection for both powering itself and record audio, which instantly makes it an interesting option for anyone looking for a microphone that can be easily moved between rooms or thrown into a backpack and brought outside the home. Perhaps you want to have an online meeting from your home office and then do a stream from your living room – the Versati Go allows you to switch locations in seconds with as little hassle as possible. It's Versati-le, get it? All that's nice and dandy, but the key thing here is the sound quality. Is it any good? Let's find out.

The Package

The box depicts the microphone when mounted on the supplied tripod and goes over its key features and technical specifications. One of the things you'll learn is that the product's exact model name is AM310G2, which may come in handy when looking it up online. AVerMedia didn't forget to mention AI—an absolute must for any modern product!—claiming that the Versati Go offers AI Noise Reduction, which can be tapped into through the AVerMedia Streaming Center, their alternative to more popular streaming software solutions, such as OBS, Streamlabs and vMix.

The box is split into three compartments, containing the microphone, tripod, swivel mount, 5/8" to 1/4" thread adapter, USB-C to USB Type-A cable, and a quick start guide.
