Assembly

With the motherboard installed you can see there is plenty of space around it. The Fantom 900 makes good use of space for a mid-tower configuration. One somewhat noticeable drawback is the lack of a hole in the upper portion of the motherboard tray for the 4/8 pin motherboard power connector. Undoubtedly there is a nice sized gap between the motherboard and the front bay area which should accommodate most of today's larger high-end graphics cards.

To facilitate access to the HDD and 5.25" drive bays the front plastic bezel of the Fantom 900 easily remove by pulling on the bottom. Once gone, the hard disk bay comes out by removing eight thumbscrews then by sliding it out. The HDD bay itself is made of steel like the rest of the chassis and is covered with anti-vibration material on both sides to keep vibration to a minimum which is a nice feature thrown in. Four screws are used to install the hard disk and the bay slides back into the front bay.

Optical drive installation is quite standard as the drive simply slides in and is fastened using four of the black thumbscrews included with the case hardware. From there the front bezel is snapped back into place. The optical drive mounts evenly with no gaps around the edges. Everything lines up.

The PSU can be mounted either way for desired airflow from the fan. The power supply used has many cables and is of the larger variety, had no problems fitting within the Fantom 900.

As you can see with everything installed there is plenty of space to spare. A modular PSU or one a bit smaller may help with creating a clean look, but the fact of the matter is the Fantom 900 can hold large hardware and still have good airflow through the case. Cable routing through the backside of the case works well, as there is enough space between the motherboard tray and the side panel.

Finished Looks

With the fans running and the LEDs glowing the Fantom 900 looks and sounds good. The LEDs aren't too bright and offer a nice shade of blue while the fans at their highest settings are very quiet. The top fan especially seems to move quite a lot of air out of the case. The side panel offers a clear view inside the case with the exception of the graphics card which is covered by the large side panel fan. The rear looks much like any other case with everything open and accessible.
