A Closer Look - Inside

Just like the top and bottom panels, the entire backside of the perforated metal side panel comes equipped with an all black dust filter which is actually removable. The inside of the Light Base 600 LX follows a pretty traditional layout in general with the upright board placement and recessed side cooling component. While there are plenty of details to differentiate the case from other offers out there, the inside of the 600 series is clearly engineered with a bit more simplicity in mind when compared to the Light Base 900. While we did not remove the front glass, you can easily do so by removing two screws.

On the backside, we are greeted by an equally traditional setup for a dual-chamber chassis, down to the centered 2.5" storage plate. be quiet! uses special screws to act as hinges, which works surprisingly well, while also allowing you to remove the panel completely without tools. On top of that, the plate is kept in place by two push pins, so it won't swing open on its own. The Light Base 600 LX does not ship with any Velcro strips unfortunately, so you will have to resort to classic zip ties instead. On the upside, the interior has plenty of hooks, so taming that out-of-the-box cable mess should still be quite doable.

As this is the LX variant, it also comes equipped with three additional Light Wings 120 mm ARGB units on the side intake. These have a reverse fan blade setup, meaning they will pull air into the case while looking beautiful. While these are connected to the top PCB at the factory, you will have to unplug them and do a proper cable management job, if you want a clean and useful result.

The seven expansion slot covers are held in place with thumb screws. There is plenty of room below this area, so you should be fine installing fans or a radiator on the floor of the be quiet! Light Base 600 LX. Above that, there is that fourth fan, set to push air out the back. Similarly, there is plenty of clearance above it for air or liquid cooling.

You may rotate the expansion slots by installing the crossbar and small cover found in the accessories box. This results in five usable slots, meaning you still retain some flexibility to find the best spot inside the Light Base 600 LX for your GPU depending on its thickness.

Both the floor and top of the case are essentially identical, which makes sense as you can have the system stand on it head too. There are hooks here to keep any visible cable mess contained. These should come in handy for fan installation, but it will be difficult to reach these when installing an AIO or custom liquid cooling.

Just like the be quiet! Light Base 900, you will find a HDD cage which can hold up to two 3.5" drives. However, the variant in the 600 LX is much simpler, omitting the use of the be quiet! HDD Cage 2 as you have to secure the one possible drive directly to the cage. We were already criticizing be quiet! for making the second cage a separate purchase, but at least you got one of them. Matters are worse in the Light Base 600 LX, as there is absolutely no reason this cage could have not been designed to accommodate two secured unto its metal frame with very little extra effort and cost. This feels like a money grab by be quiet! at this point for you to go out and buy one of their cages - something we do not like seeing at all. Above it, the PSU bay is straightforward to use with foam pads to eliminate any vibrations emanating from your power supply, however unlikely. It features the same clamp that could go on the top to further secure it, but while that is pre-installed in the 900 series, you have to secure it yourself in the Light Base 600 LX. As this case can't hold super long power supplies anyway, be quiet! could have just omitted that piece further allowing it the flexibility to offer better storage while keeping the same price point.

Another unique aspect of the Light Base cases is the fact that they sport two PCBs which each allow for up to six PWM fans and six ARGB devices. But be quiet! doesn't stop there, as both of these are color matched to the case, down to the cables connecting everything. On top of that, these two PCBs are connected to each other as well so that you can use a single ARGB header. They still come with individual SATA power, meaning you won't have to worry about overloading them either.

All the cables within the black to match the color of the chassis itself and the USB variants utilize flat-band cables which makes them easier to route. For the front panel, the case employs a single, unified plug in black as well to keep that color consistency.
