Just like the top and bottom panels, the entire backside of the perforate metal side panel comes equipped with an all white, removable dust filter. The inside of the Light Base 900 DX follows a pretty traditional layout in general with the upright board placement and recessed side cooling component. That said, be quiet! has clearly put a focus on its own tooling and featured designs. One is the attention to detail to white, with everything but the screws being that color - including all the wiring. While we did not remove the front glass, you can easily do so by removing two screws. We only do so if it is necessary, and that is not the case for the spacious Light Base 900 DX.
On the backside, we are greeted by an equally traditional setup for a dual-chamber chassis, down to the centered 2.5" storage plate. be quiet! uses two thumb screws to act as hinges, which works surprisingly well, while also allowing you to remove the panel completely without tools. On top of that, the plate is kept in place by two push pins, so it won't swing open on its own. The white theme clearly continues here, as even the Velcro strips are matching.
The room in the bottom rear is taken up by a storage cage which you may pull out after removing a total of three screws. The engineering of this component is quite elaborate, including a be quiet! HDD Cage 2 which is nice to see. It would have been nice if be quiet! would ship the case with both bays filled, instead of making the second one an additional $10 investment.
Another unique aspect of the Light Base 900 DX is the fact that it sports two PCBs which each allow for up to six PWM fans and six ARGB devices. But be quiet! doesn't stop there, as both of these are white to match the case, with white wiring and connectors. On top of that, these two PCBs are connected to each other as well so that you can use a single ARGB header. For power, they still come with individual SATA power, meaning you won't have to worry about overloading them either.
The majority of wires come pre-routed and are secured by three Velcro strips with be quiet! branding. Funny enough, the top Velcro strip in our sample was actually twice as long with two logos on it. While we were not sure if that was intentional, we simply snipped it in half resulting in four perfectly functional, branded Velcro strips. As you will see later on, that came in quite handy.
Taking a closer look at the motherboard tray, the micro-BTF and BTF cutouts are clearly present with additional openings for ATX boards at all three edges. Uniquely shaped white grommets make sure you can keep thing as clean as possible on top of that. Continuing the funny oddities, the two grommets to the right edge of the motherboard came pre-installed the wrong way according to the manual, so we flipped them around. Doing so is also necessary to use them alongside BTF motherboards, which we intend to. The Light Base 900 DX also ships with a metal GPU support arm that sports a rubber tip for your pixel pusher to rest on. If you look closely, the cutout to move the arm vertically extends beyond the top expansion slot. This is a small but important detail in case you are looking to use the case flipped over, as that then still allows you to use the support properly.
In the rear, the eight expansion slots use black thumb screws to hold each cover in place. Above that, you will find that aforementioned cooling cutout for a 120/140 mm fan or radiator with plenty of room above it, so you should be able to easily accommodate liquid cooling in the ceiling of the chassis as well.
Thanks to the modular expansion slot frame, you may unscrew five screws and then rotate the whole unit and its separate cover plate to accommodate vertical GPUs. By doing so, you still have access to all eight slots, which means you can pick the best position for your GPU based on its thickness, while still allowing your motherboard some breathing room.
Both the floor and ceiling of the be quiet! Light Base 900 DX are identical in every way, meaning they both use the same mounting frame and offer the same 3x 120 or 140 mm fan support. Naturally, you may also install up to 420 mm radiators in both of these positions. The third spot for the same type of cooling can be found on the side. It is recessed in nicely, taking advantage of the width of the Light Base 900 DX, so you won't have any issues with your GPU if you opt for that third 420 mm radiator here. If you look closely, you can see the short white interconnect wires for the embedded ARGB elements at the top and bottom corners of the case as well.
All the cables within the white be quiet! Light Base 900 DX are white and the USB variants utilize flat-band cables which makes them easier to route. For the front panel, the case employs a single, unified plug in all white as well to keep that color consistency.
