I would like to thank Chieftec for supplying the review sample.

It's been a long time since my last Chieftec review, so it was a pleasant surprise to have something new from the brand for evaluation. The new Chieftec Polaris line consists of three units with capacities ranging from 550 to 750 W. All are 80 PLUS Gold certified, and the strongest member of the line has also been certified by Cybenetics, achieving ETA-A efficiency and LAMBDA-Standard++ noise ratings. Given this platform's efficiency, I expected a quieter operation, especially taking into account Chieftec is a German company, as Germans are known to prefer silent PC components. A LAMBDA-Standard++ noise rating isn't bad. However, it is no match for the LAMBDA-A rating the Corsair RMx model of similar capacity achieves.

The Chieftec Polaris Series 750 W, or PS-750FC, is fully modular and made by High Power, a pretty good OEM, especially in the mid-price segment. The platform is modern, and this PSU is about €20 less than the highly popular Corsair RM750x that is very close to the equally popular Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 750 W, which means the Chieftec unit will have to achieve high performance to stay competitive. With a quick look at the specifications, I noticed the short warranty, which is a significant downside because the Corsair and Seasonic models offer much longer warranties of 10 years.
