Value & Conclusion

  • The Corsair Graphite 230T will set you back around 70 euros including taxes, or 80 US dollars without taxes.
  • Very good frame-construction quality
  • Great, simple design
  • Unique approach to the side panels
  • Colored panel on the underside as well
  • Three fans included
  • Can hold up to eight hard drives
  • Plenty of space behind motherboard tray for cable hiding
  • Compatibility with 240/280 mm liquid-cooling setups
  • Tension locks for optical drive bays work well
  • Nicely shaped window
  • Dust filter for the PSU
  • All-black cables
  • Large opening in the motherboard tray allows for access to the CPU, regardless of the board installed
  • Available in red, black, and gray
  • 3.5" hard-drive locks too flimsy
  • Plastic hard-drive cage
  • No dust filter on the floor fan mount
  • No rubber grommets and limited points for attaching unwanted leads
  • Basic I/O
  • Fan controller—a feature of the Graphite 600T that did not make it into the Graphite 230T whatsoever
  • Liquid-cooling rig will block top 5.25" bay
  • 140 mm tower coolers won't fit
Corsair is wise to add a more affordable chassis to the Graphite family for the large mainstream market, and the Corsair Graphite 230T is a really sexy choice. It offers everything a user of this price segment may want: 3 fans right out of the box, cool color choices and looks, liquid-cooling support, and plenty of space for large graphics cards and power supplies. But those buying the case should also be aware of the Graphite 230T only offering mediocre cable-routing and hiding possibilities and its biggest issue: The plastic hard-drive cage, or, more specifically, its locking mechanism. While the length to which Corsair has gone to design something that should work is commendable, the weakest link is the soft plastic used. These locks are not as sturdy as they should be, which is important when it comes to how your hard drives holding your precious data are held in place. While that aspect cost the Graphite 230T the Editors Choice award, the fact that you are still able to secure a drive even if the lock fails means that you won't be left hanging if it breaks.

The Corsair Graphite 230T ultimately is a really sexy chassis and great choice for those looking into a case for their next mainstream build.
