Software: Stream Deck

CORSAIR introduced Elgato Stream Deck software support for the G-keys with the K95 RGB Platinum XT earlier this year, which was a fairly big deal as it was a wise utilization of their acquisitions by adding a brand-new feature set at the time. Since then, it has been rolled out to the previous K95 RGB keyboard as well, and it only made sense for it to make it into their new flagship, the K100. As such, there is a second software driver available in the form of Elgato's Stream Deck, and the installer can be downloaded from the Elgato downloads page. The latest public version at the time of testing was 4.8.2, and the installer is 90.5 MB in size. As seen above, installation is fairly straightforward, and the final package approximately takes up 225 MB.

When you do open the program, it is best to have the keyboard connected as well as iCUE installed and running, or there will not be much to see or do here. Opening it for the first time with both conditions satisfied, we see a minimalist layout with part of the keyboard shown, and the six compatible, selectable keys. There is also a floating OSD widget, G-Keys Action Bar, that stays in the foreground even if the software window is minimized, and you need to choose the hide option in the system tray icon to close it, which is an improvement compared to before. The widget otherwise acts as a quick reference for the actions set to these six keys, and the software as a whole is extremely easy to use and stable. CORSAIR seems to have moved away from the S-key referral here, so "CORSAIR G-Keys" is the general product name in the software for all applicable keyboards.

Using the Stream Deck app to customize the six compatible keys on the K100 RGB is as simple as choosing your preferred function of choice and dragging it over to the key you want. There is a good deal of compatibility with various video streaming platforms and add-on modules to make your life easier, with Twitch Studio integration as the major addition since the last time we took a look at it. This effectively makes the new K100 a small Stream Deck kit and offers easier streaming control to gamers. Note that the program has to be running, be it in the foreground or system tray, for these functions to work since the onboard hardware profiles are restricted to iCUE functions. So to make the most of this keyboard, you would want to have both iCUE and Stream Deck installed and running.

Elgato has also released mobile apps for both iOS and Android at this time, with a paid subscription plan, to help replace the Stream Deck hardware completely. We will take a look at these in the follow-up review with the OPX switch version, although it is not critical by any means to the K100.
