A Closer Look - Inside

To access the Obsidian 250D's interior, simply remove the thumbscrews holding each panel in place. Each of these is lined with a dust filter to make sure no grime enters the chassis through such means. Removing them is easily done as magnetic strips make them stay in place. Removing the two panels and the top of the chassis gives you excellent access to the interior for such a small enclosure, which should make connecting everything as you piece your system together a breeze.

In the top is a tray for the external 5.25" drive bay. It is the only thing you will have to remove before putting any parts into the system. Once gone, you can clearly see the 140 mm fan set to pull cool air into the chassis through the front. You may replace it with a 120 mm or 180 mm unit if you so please. As with all Obsidian cases, all cooling units within are of retail quality, giving you that additional bang for your buck. There is a large opening in the motherboard tray, and it is quite handy since it allows you to tuck bits of the cables between the motherboard and the PSU away. The second pre-installed fan sits right next to the motherboard's CPU area. You may also place a 120 mmm or 140 mm all-in-one liquid cooling solution for the CPU there.

The bottom area holds the four hard-drive bays, two 2.5" and two 2.5/3.5" drive bays. These are accessible through the rear of the case, hidden behind a little metal cover. The PSU bay is covered on all sides since Corsair designed the chassis in a way that requires you to slide the PSU in through the back of the enclosure.

All cable within the chassis are sleeved black and of the default variety. As such, you should run into no issues while connecting them to the motherboard of your choice as long as it comes equipped with a 20-pin USB 3.0 header.
