Driver

The driver suite is complete and includes all the bells and whistles one could think off.


The UI is sometimes a bit dark, but that is a minor issue. Updating profiles on the keyboard's on-board memory is usually pretty fast. Setting up your own custom profiles is a relatively straight-forward affair as well since most of the options to do so are on the same page.

Performance

Cougar has done their best to tailor the 700K around people who want to use macros when they play. The keyboard has a total of six extra keys you can hook up to macros of your liking. These are placed in a way that allows you to make use of them quite easily with your left hand while gaming, which does add to the dimensions of this already huge deck. One of the smarter implementations is that of the split space bar, which gives you a very conveniently placed dedicated button. It does take some time to get used to, but works incredibly well once you get the hang of it. Yet it can also be somewhat annoying while typing normally as you can accidentally hit either of the two space bars. But such is also something you will probably do less and less as you get more comfortable with the layout.

just like the Corsair K70 RGB, The 700K has an aluminum backplate. The aluminum plate is just a showpiece and does influence how much noise the keyboard emits while you type on it a little.

The lighting system is pretty sophisticated, albeit not on the same level as that of the K70 RGB. It does pack the essentials, like selective lighting of keys and illumination intensity control.


There are enough dedicated macro buttons on the 700K to satisfy most people. Their locations are pretty convenient.

The keyboard is pretty comfortable as you have a wrist rest with a rubber pad you can move between two positions.
