The Cougar Revenger S is objectively a good mouse, and it is very nice to see Cougar growing quickly while still listening to user feedback. Subjectively, I did like it a lot aside from a few things (mainly the buttons). The build quality is decent but not great, which is something Cougar could improve upon with its next models.
If you are looking for a right-handed ergonomic mouse with ergonomics that don't really force your hand into a certain position, then the Revenger S might be the top choice for your needs. However, if you have smaller than 15 cm or bigger than 20 cm hands, it isn't your best option in my opinion—of course, I can be wrong here. The top coating is a thing I really love with most newer Cougar mice, though the side grips may prove to be slippery for certain users.
Just like the Minos X5's sensor, the PMW3360 here is pretty much flawless. It is the current flagship mouse sensor and has an insanely high perfect control speed without any malfunctions or errors. As long as you don't go above 2000 CPI, you should be fine if you are a highly competitive player. If you play casually (or don't play at all), you don't need to worry about the 2 ms of input lag.
As for the buttons, I was a bit disappointed, but they are not bad at all. It is just that the Minos X5 has the same switches, yet its buttons feel a tad better. My biggest issue is probably the morbidly stiff middle click, but thankfully, the scrolling itself feels perfect. Most of my nitpicking isn't a deal breaker for the average user, but if you want the highest performance and comfort around, you might need to DIY-fix some things here and there with the buttons on the Revenger S.
Moving on to the mouse feet, they are really great and pretty much among the best stock feet currently available on the market. They are fast, seem to be durable, and provide a smooth and consistent glide. The cable is pretty good as well since it does not generate a lot of friction when it touches the mouse pad, and it is quite flexible too.
Cougar UIX™ System, the driver software, is pretty good; it is intuitive and easy to pick up on, yet here and there, it could be a tad simpler still. Once you are done setting up everything, you can even delete it since the mouse has 512 KB of built-in memory to store all your settings.
We're in 2018, so if you mention a gaming mouse, RGB lighting is probably a feature. The Revenger S is no exception, of course, and has a very nice two-zone backlighting feature with 16.8 available colors to choose from, and a number of effects to play with.
Even though its symmetrical brother got a higher rating and an Editor's Choice award, the Revenger S has some quirks that made me deprive it of those. All in all, it is still a very good mouse in general. I would gladly recommend it to those who find the shape comfortable and its other specifications suitable for their needs. However, I hope Cougar releases an updated version of this mouse soon!
