Surface

The top surface of the Surpassion is covered in a matte black coating. I am not entirely satisfied with how it feels. Compared to the Revenger S and Minos X5, it is more slippery in my hands and provides less of a comfortable grip. This does not mean that everyone will feel the same way about it, however, as everyone is different and has different preferences. Thankfully, it does not seem to collect any fingerprints, nor does it get grimy easily.

Just like the previous two Cougar mice I have tested, the Surpassion too has textured rubberized side grips. These feel nice, but honestly, I think without the small square patterns, it would have more grip, making for a less slippery surface. However, I had no issues with losing my grip on these side panels at all, so I can say it does the job rather well.

Build Quality

The build quality is near perfect, though there is some creaking in the bottom-right area, but reproducing the creak requires a very tight squeeze you won't apply in normal use. There are no rattling parts whatsoever, and the mouse feet are aligned well by default.

Weight

This mouse weighs about 98–99 g with a few centimeters of cable. This means that it is a bit heavy for its size, but again, weight is a personal preference. The mouse is rather back heavy, probably because of the LCD panel. I would not call this an issue because the weight of the backside is well distributed. With a palm grip, it will not cause any problems in my opinion, but claw grippers who place their fingers on the very front might find it bothersome.
