Software: Desktop
If you are not the type to do mobile apps, I have bad news for you. That said, maybe you already set up your Super X-Fi profile and are looking to configure the SXFI Air from your PC instead. In that case, this is the page for you. Creative also has desktop programs as an analogue to SXFI Air Control, the installer for which can be found
on this page. The latest version at the time of testing was v3.4.81.0, and the installer came in at 154 MB. As seen above, installation is trivial, and once installed, it takes up about as much as the installer on your storage drive.
Once installed, SXFI Control gives you the option to go through a short tutorial for Super X-Fi, or skip it altogether. I do recommend clicking through the four pages if you are new to this, as it does a lot to answer many questions newcomers may have about Super X-Fi, as well as the program.
With the headphones connected, and I recommend USB here for a stable connection and transfer of profiles, you are first prompted to log into your Super X-FI profile. This is why the mobile software page has been put before the desktop one, as you can't really do much without it. Once logged in, it uploads your selected SXFI profile to the headset if it hasn't been uploaded already and takes you to the home page with the confirmation notice front and center.
The desktop program is akin to the mobile app, so I am at least glad to see the company has something for non-mobile users. You can upload Super X-Fi profiles, change EQ settings, and enable lighting for the RGB LED rings around the earcups. The Setup menu provides more options here, including a choice of stereo or virtual 7.1 configuration, as well as the separate headphone and microphone volume levels.
