Installation
The first step to installing the R1 Universal is to get the backplate installed. First, make sure it is properly configured for your socket; that is, to use the screw pillars to firmly hold it in place.
Take the Intel mounting brackets and slide them over the screw pillars. It is now time to use the thumbscrews to hold these in place. Apply some thermal paste in preparation to mounting the heastink after that has been done.
Line the cooler's two spring-loaded screws up with the holes in both mounting brackets to use the included screwdriver to screw them down nice and tight. Due to the design of the mounting hardware, the fans do not have to be removed.
All that remains now is to plug the fans into the motherboard's CPU fan header.
The mounting hardware CRYORIG implemented with the R1 Universal is simply amazing - it is extremely easy to work with as the fans don't need to be removed to complete the install. Overall, on a scale of 1 (hardest) to 10 (easiest), I would rate this cooler's installation a 10. This was by far the easiest installation of a high-end cooler to date.
