Finished Looks

Unlike the all-black design of the Captain 240EX RGB, the Captain 240 PRO has a bit more contrast. The pump and fan blades are a translucent white, which offsets the black. Most importantly, the pump remains fairly visible because of its design, offering a nice focal point outside of the fans when illuminated.

Like the majority of all-in-one liquid CPU coolers, the Captain 240 PRO is no different, offering perfect clearance for memory and graphics cards on our test bench.

When it comes to pure looks, the RGB LEDs provide a nice touch that should look good in any system. The overall illumination is good on the fans; however, a couple of dark spots show up on the pump. Essentially, the light isn't diffusing as well here. While red looks alright, it's an easy issue to spot with most other colors. Still, unless you look closely, you won't notice it if behind a darker tempered glass panel with other RGB components.

The most significant issue I had with the RGB lighting was that it wouldn't play nice with the MSI motherboard software for me. However, the built-in controller worked just fine. That said, a wireless controller would be better as taking off a panel to change the color of the LEDs is a bit of a pain. Other brands have already gone this route, and it makes for a better end user experience.
