Computer Case
Thermaltake Core V31 - $59
Once you've installed your rig, you won't care about what the case is made of (steel or aluminum); it's the features that will matter as you keep upgrading and adding new stuff to your machine. Thermaltake's Core series of cases feature some far-sighted engineering at great price points. The Core V31 we chose for today's build has all the right features, including detachable drive cages, roomy interiors, cutouts at just the right spots, with enough crawlspace behind the motherboard tray to let you manage your cable spaghetti, and a near tool-free installation. At $59, you can't go wrong with this case. Then again, cases can be a highly subjective choice based on personal tastes.
Monitor
ViewSonic VG2860MHL-4K - $649
This is the centerpiece of our build. It's one of the rare 28-inch 4K monitors that comes with a non TN-film panel, under $1000. It embeds an MVA (multi-domain vertical alignment) panel, which offers IPS-like color reproduction and viewing angles. The best part is its low response time of 2 ms. So you get the best of both worlds—TN-film and IPS.
Peripherals
Logitech G710 Keyboard - $119
The Logitech G710 is among the best value for money when it comes to mechanical keyboard at its given price point. Most premium mechanical keyboards are now pulling $150-ish price tags. It doesn't go overboard with its design, has just the right amount of keys in just the right places, and best of all, uses Cherry MX switches (Blue and Brown offered) instead of something proprietary to Logitech. Its dual-zone backlighting feature lets you highlight select keys while toning down lighting on others; and its electronics offer a 26-key rollover.
SteelSeries Sensei RAW mouse - $59
The Sensei RAW is the best mouse SteelSeries ever made, and offers great precision thanks to its laser sensor, great claw-grip, and just the right amount of tactile feedback on its buttons.
SteelSeries Siberia RAW headset - $59
Another great product from the legends of comfortable headsets, the Siberia RAW offers balanced tuning that's optimized for gaming, but doesn't sound too bad with music and movies. The breathable fabric cushioning for its around-the-ear cans is made from a sportswear-like fabric that makes sure extended gaming sessions don't bake your ears.
