ECS LIVA Core Mini-PC Review

Included Software

Pictured above is the current ECS LIVA Core along with its older sibling, the LIVA X2. You can see the common bits, but some huge changes have definitely taken place.

Once you plug in the LIVA Core and turn it on, you'll notice a faint white glow coming out from the top. It's bright, but not overly so, so should you decide to add the ECS LIVA Core into your home theatre, its LED won't interfere with your viewing pleasure.

I really like that thanks to Windows10 being included with some of these LIVA Core units (you can also buy it without an OS), you see the LIVA logo on power up. Yet because it ships with a fairly old build of Windows10, you'll have to spend some time updating the unit when you first power it up. I know that's not exactly what everyone would like to do when getting a new bit of tech to play with, but there's only so much that can be done when it comes to devices like this, and it is partly out of ECS's control since Microsoft does push out fairly consistent monthly updates that have drastically changed the OS since its launch.
