Design and Ergonomics
Like many other modern office monitors manufactured by EIZO, the FlexScan EV3240X looks very sleek, thanks to thin bezels and an elegant matte black color scheme. Even the bottom edge of the panel looks thinner than usual, primarily because EIZO didn't insist on putting its logo on there, rather opting for a plastic strip with two speaker cutouts and touch-sensitive controls. More on them in a moment.
The U-shaped base is made of recycled plastic. It's very stable despite taking up surprisingly little space on the table. In exact numbers, the base is 312 mm (12.28 in) wide and around 230 mm (9.06 in) deep, so you should have no trouble finding room for the FlexScan EV3240X even in otherwise cramped spaces.
EIZO has been using the same functional and instantly-recognizable two-layer stand design for ages. There was no reason not to opt for it on the FlexScan EV3240X, as it continues to work great, offering full screen adjustability and a smooth range of motion in all directions.
Instead of the more common cable routing hole, EIZO uses a plastic clip, mounted on the rear side of the stand. It leaves plenty of space for multiple cables to be guided through.
The screen of the FlexScan EV3240X can be tilted from -5 to +35°. You can do so with one hand – the mechanism is incredibly smooth.
The screen also swivels by 45° to the left and right. This, too, is something you can do with one hand, without having to hold the base down to prevent the monitor from toppling over.
Also adjustable is the height of the panel. In the topmost position, the distance from the table to the bottom edge of the screen is 205 mm (8.07 in), and around 10 mm (0.39 in) after pushing the screen as low as it will go (which, in this case, means that the bottom of the panel touches the base). That gives the monitor a total height-adjustment range of 195 mm (7.68 in) – far more than we usually get from home and lesser office monitors.
The screen can be pivoted by 90° clockwise.
Removing the stand reveals four VESA 100x100 mounting holes. Those can be used to mount the monitor to a standard table or wall mount.
