Epomaker Lite Review - 60% Shallow Gasket Mount Keyboard

Packaging & Accessories »

Introduction

Epomaker Logo

Epomaker has had a bumpy ride here on TechPowerUp, with some of its products faring quite well—the GK96LS and AK84S come to mind—and some others not so much, as with the likes of the Epomaker B21 and NT68 duo. One thing I did like is that the company never shied away from trying something out, be it the global introduction of a Chinese factory product from Skyloong or coming out with its own switches and keyboard designs based on customer and press feedback. It was about this time last year that I got wind of Epomaker wanting to target a more premium keyboard market segment than its otherwise more value-oriented lineup while keeping pricing competitive, which has become the selling point for Epomaker keyboards.

The all-new Epomaker Lite is the first product to come out of this venture, to wild success with a Kickstarter campaign late last year. This 60% keyboard at first look does not seem any different from the other GK61 series keyboards put out by Skyloong or Epomaker in the past, but there is more here than meets the eye. In particular, Epomaker is claiming the use of a novel "shallow gasket mount" that significantly reduces the cost of gasket-mount keyboards, or at least it would if the design is valid enough. There are also different switch and color versions available, one of which is seen above, and I happen to have a different one on hand. Let's take a closer look at the Epomaker Lite in this review, which begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below, and thanks again to Epomaker for providing TechPowerUp a review sample!
