Introduction

FiiO Logo

FiiO is a stalwart when it comes to personal audio, having had an established presence longer than most brands we have covered in the audio space to where folks are aware of the brand name and more likely to purchase its products simply because of it. It is also way bigger than the typical so-called ChiFi audio brand, with a good example being this 2022 product roadmap listing more products in one year than many companies have in a lifetime. There are multiple product lines from FiiO thus, including IEMs using a single dynamic driver (FD), IEMs employing a hybrid driver configuration (FH), portable/Bluetooth DAC/amps, and even a whole budget brand all its own (Jade Audio). One of its popular IEM lines had yet to be covered, so let's rectify that. Today, we talk about FiiO's latest entry to the FA all-balanced armature driver series. Thanks to FiiO for providing TechPowerUp a review sample!

FiiO's FA-series traditionally adopted a semi-ergonomic shell design similar to what we saw with the FH5s, but goes further down that road. Instead, the new FA7s has a form factor quite reminiscent of the FiiO FD3 with a circular shell normally for dynamic driver IEMs, including the DUNU ZEN PRO. The company claimed this departure helped push R&D towards a more novel sound signature combined with the experience gained with this acoustic chamber design from recent releases. Aesthetically, it does the job too, but let's hold off on making any decisions solely based on a render by taking a closer look at the new FiiO FA7s in our review that begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
