Packaging and Accessories
FiiO loves its two-piece product boxes, with the FT1 continuing the theme. The outer sleeve is adorned by a large render of the headphones from the side—I do not know if this will reflect the version you have, my sample was actually one of the very first ever made—in addition to the brand logo, product name, and the expected Hi-Res Audio certification badge that FiiO loves to put on anything it can qualify for. There's very little of note on the back or sides, although we do get a confirmation that this is the black color version on the SKU label. The inner box slides out from the top or bottom and is made of plain black cardboard with a hang tag for easier storage/display in retail outfits. Two side flaps keep the contents in place during transit, and opening the box reveals a headphones carry case placed at an angle over more cardboard.
FiiO also provides a quick start guide—
online version here—underneath the case going over the use and maintenance of the headphones, although I suspect most people will care more about the case itself. FiiO cheekily points out this is "crafted with the same materials and techniques as top French brands," making me immediately think of Focal. Indeed, this certainly looks similar to the
Focal Bathys case given it's a semi-hard storage bag with a fabric exterior and the brand logo in the front. A large carry strap and a self-sealing zipper mechanism add positively to the user experience, and inside is plenty of room for the headphones as well as the provided stock cables. FiiO has the cables come in larger plastic zip lock bags with protective covers on all the metal plugs and more plastic bags over the individual connectors on the headphones side. We also get a 3.5 mm to 6.35 mm (1/4") single-ended adapter for use with more prosumer equipment, as well as desktop sources that support a 6.35 mm output over a 3.5 mm one.
