Fnatic Gear Clutch 2 Review

Surface

Just like the Flick 2, the Clutch 2 uses two different coatings on the two main parts of the mouse. The top coating features a very grippy, slightly coarse, but still fairly smooth matte coating that isn't rubberized. This part tends to collect fingerprints quite quickly unfortunately, so you might have to clean the mouse a lot if you want to keep it nice and appealing. The scroll wheel is rubberized and line-textured, so no accidental slips should occur.

The side panels are both rubberized and have a bit of a dotted texture. These parts are smoother than the top area, and I found them to provide a bit less grip. I had no issues with slipping at all even though I have quite sweaty palms. I didn't lose my grip once while playing some high-paced FPS games on a low sensitivity setting.

Build Quality

Build quality is pretty amazing on the Clutch 2. One of two things I can nitpick on is that there is a little bit of noise coming from the main buttons if you tap them lightly, which means their plungers aren't perfectly positioned on the micro switches, but a tad higher. The other is that the right button seems to be grinding against the middle separating panel, but this only happens after actuation, once the button is forced down even more. There is no rattling, squeaking, creaking or anything else of the sort even when pressing down on the shell hard or shaking the mouse vigorously. All in all, the build quality is near perfect.

Weight

Fnatic claims the Clutch 2 to be 97 grams, but in reality, it weighs more around 104 grams with a few centimeters of cable you're gonna drag and lift with the mouse anyways. While weight is kind of a personal preference, I think this mouse could really lose a few grams. It doesn't really feel that heavy in use, but if you switch from a much lighter mouse, you'll instantly notice the difference, which was the case for me. Moreover, it is generally better for your wrists to use a lighter mouse in the long run. The balance is good; the Clutch 2 isn't front or back heavy and doesn't seem to want to tilt to the sides either when lifted up.
