A Closer Look - Outside
Foxconn ships the Netbox already placed within the plastic VESA mounting frame. This reminds us of the unit which is included with the MAG series from Zotac and serves the exact same purpose, but more on that later. The Netbox is further protected by two plastic sheets, which also insure that you won't receive your Netbox with fingerprints all over the case.
To give you an idea about the incredibly compact size, I have placed the driver CD on the unit. Foxconn has done an excellent job in reducing the overall volume of the device, but has also managed to stuff it full of connectivity. An optical drive and remote control can be bought separately. While the missing DVD-RW is no big deal, it would have been nice for Foxconn to include the remote control, but since the unit is so affordable to start with, this shortcoming can be overlooked as well.
A little Atom sticker has been placed on the top cover of the Netbox. Since the unit is available in black or white, Foxconn has also placed stickers with the usual information in the appropriate colors on the devices.
Well here goes the long list of connectivity from the left or right: wireless, four USB 2.0 ports, DVI-I, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, Optical 3.5" audio and DC power. On the front you will find dual audio, two more USB 2.0 ports, an LED stripe, a small speaker and power/standby buttons.
Even though the unit is very compact, it still utilizes active cooling. There are two fine air vents on the side of the Netbox. The larger one is only used to pull air into the case, while the other one is much smaller so that hot air is pressed out of the unit and won't remain within the enclosure.
Foxconn has managed to create a very powerful little device with a lot of interesting features, starting with the round metal spots. These are intended for the magnetic feet. Instead of having to use screws, simply let physics do the trick - a nice little touch.
