Fractal Design Celsius S36 Review

A Closer Look

Unlike the Kelvin series which features copper radiators, the Celsius S36 uses an aluminum radiator. The fins-per-inch (FPI) count looks to be 21 (according to my count), and to make the most of it requires high static pressure fans or high RPM fans. This seems to be the typical FPI for most AIOs on the market today. Other than that, it's a relatively thin (30 mm thick) 360 mm radiator. It uses standard G 1/4" fittings for those wishing to expand the system. The fan hub is also a unique inclusion with the cable going to the pump hidden by the sleeving on the tubing, which is an ingenious little trick that helps things look nice and clean.

Looking at the design, it's a bit different. Namely, that the cable coming from the radiator is completely hidden. Meanwhile, the plastic outer ring can be turned slightly as a selector switch to pick between Auto or PWM fan control. Another interesting quirk, which shows Fractal Design's attention to detail, is the braided pump cable that features a rubber cap that prevents it from bending too far or kinking near the pump. The Celsius S36 comes with thermal paste pre-applied, but that is not pictured here. The base is circular, same as the housing, and is made out of copper.

The Dynamic X2 GP12 PWM fans included with the Celsius S36 by Fractal Design have a PWM RPM range of 500-2000 and a maximum CFM of 87.6.
