A Closer Look - Inside

To remove the covers, simply detach the thumbscrews holding each in place. Doing so gives you excellent access to both compartments within.

In the main compartment, you will find a fan in the front, with an option to install another. In the back are five motherboard-expansion slots and another 120 mm cooling fan set to blow air out through the back.

You may install two hard drives of either the 2.5'' or 3.5" variety onto the floor of the chassis. Fractal Design does supply rubber grommets, so you may even mount 3.5'' drives without having to worry about vibrations. There is also enough space for two 120 mm or 140 mm fans, or a radiator of up to 280 mm in size.

Fractal Design placed two white metal units to which hard drives are attached vertically into the secondary compartment. This allows for up to eight drives to be placed inside such a confined space. Similar to the main compartment, two fans may be installed into the front of this compartment.

The PSU bay in the rear is in the bottom, while a third 120 mm fan can be found above, again set to push air out the back of the NODE 804.

Straps on the floor of the chassis should really help in keeping the cables bunched up nicely, which allows for unobstructed access to the two hard-drive cages. You could also remove these cages and their mounting rails to install more fans or liquid cooling into this side of the cube chassis.

All cables within are sleeved black and of default variety. You will also find three 3-pin connectors that are powered by a SATA connector you would directly attach to the PSU.
