A Closer Look

The FSP Windale 4 is, much like the Windale 6, comprised of 54 aluminum fins. Heat is transferred to these fins via four heatpipes.

This cooler's fin assembly is of a solder-less louvered design. Much like other single-tower coolers, it features a bunch of aluminum fins and some U-shaped heatpipes.

The top plate, like the rest of the fins, has "FSP" stamped in. No plating or coating has been applied to this model, which helps keep cost down. The base is of course a direct touch heatpipe design, and I am glad to see that the gaps are nearly imperceptible, which results in less filling with extra thermal paste. The base itself has machining marks and tiny scratches. A bit more polish would have been nice, but the fact that it is missing is understandable - this is an entry level offering after all.

The black and gray 120 mm CF12P02 fan included by FSP has a PWM range of 1000-1600 RPM. Maximum CFM is listed at 60. The fan is quite interesting, with the frame design being different from the prototypical 120 mm fans seen day to day.
