Value and Conclusion

  • The 16 GB (2x 8 GB) G.SKILL Sniper X 3600 MHz C19 kit is available for around US$185.
  • Customized looks specific to motherboard designs for that perfect custom build
  • Wide compatibility guaranteed and tested on multiple platforms
  • No LEDs
  • Simple aesthetic design
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Rather loose timings for 3600 MHz
  • No LEDs
  • DDR4 is priced fairly high right now (not a fault on these sticks specifically, but all DDR4)
G.SKILL's Sniper X sticks provide a more than decent option for those of us who are into gaming and don't need the absolute best out there, but still want something decent to clock up and lower overall system latency with. The XMP-rated 3600 MHz profile is above and beyond what our testing for this platform has found to be most optimal, meaning there's headroom for either higher clocks or lower clocks and lower timings, depending on what your choice is for tuned memory performance. Or, if you prefer to keep things at "stock", you can do that too.

This specific set is designed for ASUS TUF motherboards. The digital camo print on top is perfectly matched to these boards, although I find this memory actually perhaps a bit better than the ASUS TUF board deserves, and that's a good thing. Add in the absence of any sort of LEDs here, and those of you looking for a great option with no LEDs need look no further. Yes. you CAN get better, but is it worth the cost? That's something you'll have to decide for yourself.

When it comes time to look at that performance offered, it might be possible that 3200 MHz C16 sticks offer the same sort of speed boost overall, which isn't too bad. The relatively high 19-19-19-38 timings on spec here are not the best possible, but they really aren't that bad either. It really depends on how you use your PC, but it IS worth noting that these sticks can easily be tuned to 3200 MHz with tighter timings if that's what you are ultimately after. Having that flexibility is nice for sure.
