G.SKILL Ripjaws KM570 MX Keyboard Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The G.SKILL Ripjaws KM570 MX (non-RGB) has an MSRP of $99.99 but current street pricing ranges from $74.99 to $86.99 depending on the switch option from Newegg.com and Amazon.com in the USA.
  • Well priced considering everything you get
  • Good build quality
  • Good control over backlighting, and macro recording
  • Two year warranty
  • Poor quality keycaps
  • PCB solder quality could be improved
  • No rubber pads on the keyboard feet resulting in potential desk scratches
When G.SKILL introduced the KM780 MX mechanical keyboard in 2015, I was not enamored with the looks and wanted a cleaner layout at a lower price. So I was definitely interested to check out the KM570 MX when it was introduced, and overall it has not disappointed. It is not as minimalistic as I thought- especially in terms of the volume it occupies- but does so without making you feel it is a budget keyboard when you use it.

The stock keycaps are disappointing, but when put in context of the total price of the product it is more forgivable. The standard keycap layout also helps mitigate this issue given the huge range of replacement keycap set options available, but in this price range I would recommend going with a keyboard with better stock keycaps to begin with if this was a concern. Other things that are subjective include the non-detachable braided cable and non-rubberized feet- not dealbreakers for me, but your mileage may vary.

The feature set is relatively rich including per key lighting customization, a plethora of preset lighting effects and hardware macro recording and playback. Add to this genuine Cherry MX switches, Gaming enthusiasts will be interested in this feature set and for this reason I feel it offers very good value for your money.
