Turn-On Transient Tests

In the next test we are going to measure the response of the PSU in a simple transient load scenario, during the turn on phase of the PSU. More specific while the PSU is completely switched off (we cut off power to the PSU), we dial the maximum load that it can handle and then we restore power. The ATX specification states that recorded spikes on all rails should not exceed 10% of their nominal values (e.g. +10% for 12V is 13.2V so for 19V the max allowed is 20.9V).

The 19V rail doesn't register any voltage overshoots but it needs quite some time to settle its voltage down to normal levels. Apparently 90W during turn on are too high for this adapter.

Contrary to 19V rail the 5V one performs fine without any spikes and with a normal rise time.
