Packaging

The HyperX Pulsefire Core comes in a standard-sized, windowless box covered in a lot of red and white, render images, marketing text, and specifications—just the usual. The internal structure is sturdy, has some cardboard bracings inside so the mouse can't get damaged during shipping. As for its contents, you get the mouse, a quick-start guide plus two small brochures, and nothing else—so no replacement mouse feet unfortunately. The mouse has a lot of plastic foil around its glossy parts you should remove before use (or before taking photos, note to self).

Shape

The Pulsefire Core doesn't have a common or boring shell design. It features a symmetrical form factor with side buttons on the left side only, which means it will mainly suit right-handed users. It's fairly similar to the Zowie ZA and Cougar Minos series, although a tad wider, and has a taller profile at the back. Both the front and back flare out, while the middle is relatively narrow. As for me, I personally love this shape because it fits my relaxed claw grip very well (my hands are about 18x9 cm).

Both sides are slightly concave to help maintain a stable grip even when the mouse is being picked up. The main buttons feature slight, non-aggressive comfort grooves as well to help your fingers settle into a more relaxed position.

As for physical measurements, the Core is 119.3 mm (4.7") long, which is a tad shorter than average for gaming mice. The total width is 63.9 mm (2.52"), but the actual width at which it is gripped is approximately 55 mm (2.2"). The total height is 41.3 mm (1.63"), and the hump is toward the back. With these dimensions, I would mainly recommend this mouse to palm and claw grippers with hands that are at least 16 cm long, but no longer than 20 cm, though it will in my opinion work best with 18-19 cm hands. Of course, it can work outside of those parameters as well as it's all a matter of personal preference.
