HyperX Pulsefire Haste Review

Value & Conclusion »

Software

Much like many other recent HyperX products, the Pulsefire Haste is compatible with HyperX NGENUITY. NGENUITY is a fully UWP-integrated app exclusively available through the Windows Store. An important thing to note is that NGENUITY is wholly incompatible with MSI Afterburner. As long as the latter is running, NGENUITY will instantly crash upon selecting the mouse-related tab. The only existing workaround consists of terminating MSI Afterburner before selecting said tab while using NGENUITY.

The first tab houses the lighting settings and is detailed below. The second tab allows for button remapping of all available buttons, to mouse, keyboard, media, OS, or macro functions. Finally, the third tab includes options for CPI adjustment, from 100 to 16,000 CPI and in increments of 100 for up to five color-coded levels. Furthermore, polling rate can be adjusted as well (125/250/500/1000 Hz). When applied, all settings are saved to the on-board memory, so the software does not need to be running (or be installed) all the time. On my system, the software had a RAM footprint of 100 MB on average.

Lighting

The Pulsefire Haste has but a single zone for RGB lighting, which is the scroll wheel. A total of four pre-defined lighting effects are available in the software: Cycle, Breathing, Solid, and Trigger. For most effects, colors, transition speed, opacity, and brightness can be customized. Of course, the lighting can also be disabled altogether by setting the brightness to zero.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are excellent throughout. Here's a short demonstration video showcasing the Cycle lighting effect:
